A May Day Wedding For Dan And Elze - The Red Lion Hotel, Henley On Thames - 1st May

On 1st May we headed to The Red Lion in Henley on Thames for English born Daniel and Lithuanian born Elze's Wedding. Perched on the banks of the River Thames, The Red Lion was originally an old Coaching Inn between London and Oxford and dates back over 600 years so was filled with history and artefacts.

Dan and Elze had booked Taylormade Acoustic Duo to be a part of their special day and we set up in the Isis Suite to perform during their Wedding Breakfast. It was really sweet to see Dan and Elze seated on a table for just the two of them facing out to all of their guests. A fun and less formal arrangement than the traditional long top table at the end of the room.

Dan Elze Acoustic Duo Carley

We started performing as the first guests entered from the receiving line to add a beautiful atmosphere as guests take their seats for the Wedding Breakfast.

WEDDING TIP: If you are going to have a receiving line then, depending on exact numbers, you should factor in around 30 minutes to greet all of your guests. There can be quite a wait for the first guests that go through so you could have an acoustic set during the receiving line to keep guests entertained and to create a lovely atmosphere. The acoustic duo is not intrusive so still allows you to chat and greet your guests with ease, but has the unmistakable spark that only live music can bring.

Dan and Elze had requested some beautiful choices for the set and we performed them as they enjoyed their first meal together as Husband and Wife. We played songs such as Songbird by Eva Cassidy. Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran and Cannonball by Damien Rice.

Moving into speeches both English and Lithuanian traditions were being kept. The Mother of the Bride's speech was presented in both English and Lithuanian and it was a wonderful to see these two families come together despite the language barrier.

Dan and Elze Wedding Book

For their First Dance Dan and Elze had asked us to perform Norah Jones' song 'Come Away With Me' and it was a beautiful moment as they took the floor for the first time as Mr and Mrs Maskell. Elze had even changed into a stunning sequinned evening gown for the dance. They had been working with a dance teacher to a choreographed routine and despite being a little nervous they absolutely nailed it!

We then went into our second set with some livelier tracks to get everyone warmed up and ready for the DJ. Dan and Elze had chosen feel good tracks like You're The One That I Want from Grease and A Little Respect by Erasure both of which got everyone on their feet and wailing away on the dance floor!

The night continued with a packed dance floor and some fun with silly games for the newlyweds and giggles all around.

Finishing the night with a rendition of Auld Lang Syne, as is tradition in Lithuania, brought an end to this lovely couple's day and we wish them all the very best for their lives together.

On Easter Monday we headed to the beautiful Kilworth House Hotel in Leicestershire to perform for Claire Ellis and Nic Ross on their Wedding Day.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous with not a cloud in the sky, so we knew it was going to be a magical day!

Claire and Nic were getting married in 'The Orangery' and as the sun streamed in through the windows we played two tracks as guests took their seats ready for Claire's big moment.

We played 'Your Song' by Elton John, the a cover by Ellie Goulding and the first of two tracks we learnt especially for Claire and Nic which was 'First Day Of My Life' by Bright Eyes.

Claire's Bridal Entrance was to 'A Thousand Years' by Christina Perri, a really beautiful track stripped back to just the acoustic and vocal.

It was an emotional moment as Claire walked down the aisle holding her father’s hand to a beaming Nic and we found a lovely place to stop on the lyrics of 'I have loved you for a thousand years...and I'll love you for a thousand more'. There was not a dry eye in the house!"

For the singing of the register, (which usually takes around 10 minutes), we played the second track we had learned for Claire and Nic - 'Viva La Vida' by Coldplay followed by 'Everlong' by The Foo Fighters...famous as Chandler and Monica's Wedding song in 'Friends'!

During the Ceremony there were 2 readings, as is tradition, and there was a reading called 'A Lovely Love Story' By Edward Monkton. A beautiful story about two lovely dinosaurs with a message as old as time itself – that being together is better than being apart! A really fun story and one that breaks the nervousness of a ceremony with giggles and silliness!

Finally as Nic kissed his beautiful Bride, we played the timeless classic 'All You Need Is Love'.

As they exited as Husband and Wife, Mr and Mrs Ellis-Ross at the beginning of their journey with a whole lifetime ahead of them.

We've since received a lovely note from Claire saying "Thank you SO much for performing for us both. You were simply amazing and brought me to tears as I walked into the ceremony"

We wish Claire and Nic all the very best for their lives together and hope their days are filled with love, light and hope! Lots of Love, Carley and Matt xxx

We've since heard that there is a new member of the Ellis-Ross household!!

Wishing all 3 of you the most wonderful of lives together! x

Kirstie and Daniel's Wedding - Chicheley Hall, Buckinghamshire - 14th March

This weekend took us to the amazing Chicheley Hall, nestled between Milton Keynes and Bedford. Even though we are quite local to this area, we hadn't realised quite how lovely this venue is. Not only is the architecture stunning and the grounds impeccable, but the food is great and the Staff are very welcoming and really know how to keep an event running smoothly. Our thanks to Event Managers Karen and Tyrone. If you haven't yet chosen a Wedding venue, we think this would be a rather nice one to check out.

We played as Taylormade Acoustic Duo for Kirstie and Daniel's Wedding. A lovely couple who came to see us play live some months ago, as we played a set at the new Revolution Kitchen/Bar in Milton Keynes' Xscape. We began by providing pre-recorded background music in several of the rooms at Chicheley Hall whilst photos were taken, before performing a 45 minute Acoustic set prior to the Wedding Breakfast. Kirstie and Daniel picked out some favourites from our setlist, including 'Maggie May' by The Faces and Otis Redding's My Girl.

We took a little break for some lovely food whilst the Wedding Breakfast took place, followed by the speeches. We could just about hear the speeches from the back room and have to say the Best Man's speech was very good and had many in stitches!

We then relocated to the Main Hall where we set up our Acoustic Duo and DJ set as the room was being turned around. We performed another 45 minute acoustic set, with a few more lively tracks, including 'Save Tonight' by Eagle Eye Cherry and 'Someone Like You' by Kings Of Leon, as evening guests arrived.

We broke to announce the cutting of the cake and as everyone gathered round with their cameras, Kirstie and Daniel took to the floor for their First Dance, performed live by yours truly. It was a lovely moment and they were joined on the dancefloor by the rest of the Wedding Party. Kirstie and Daniel chose Ellie Goulding's How Long Will I Love You', after quite a bit of deliberation! Kirstie contacted us for advice a couple of weeks previously as they simply couldn't decide on a first song As a married couple ourselves, we both know well just how hard it can be choosing… our advice is to choose something that means something to you both, or a song that you love the lyrics to, and we're always very happy to help if you're stuck.

Following the first dance, we kicked into our DJ set. This was a really fun, happy go lucky wedding and the dancefloor was always packed. We had the privilege of witnessing some rather funky moves throughout the night!

We would like to thank Kirstie and Daniel for having us play a part in their special day. We hope you had a fantastic Honeymoon in California and wish you all the best for your lives together. x
